Recently IIT Roorkee students have developed Mitron, a short video app that achieves 5 Mn installs in a month with an amazing rating of 4.7 star and has more than a passing resemblance to Chinese Application TikTok, has taken India by storm.
The popularity of Mitron has grown at a time while TikTok is facing the wrath of Indian internet customers after it got indulged in two important controversies. The first controversy erupted as a web feud among YouTubers and TikTok creators, which led to a ban on a YouTube video with the aid of video content creator, Carry Minati.
There became a time when memers in India seemed forward to Prime Minister Narendra Modi starting his speeches with the word “Mitron”. Such is the recognition of the word and the affection of Indians for TikTok, an IIT Roorkee student Shivank Agarwal has reportedly constructed an app known as Mitron TV and it now has over 5 million downloads in only one month of its launch.
